Hassan Elsentriecy and Dominic Gervasio in the labCaltrode, a startup company formed by CHEE researchers Dominic Gervasio and Hassan Elsentriecy, is taking a new type of sensor to market. Their reference electrode sits inside metal pipes carrying molten salts and measures the voltage differential between the materials. Operators can use the results to minimize galvanic corrosion on the pipes.

They expect the tech will see use in solar power systems, nuclear reactors, petroleum refining applications and more.
